Korea April-June 2026 earnings: memory and shipbuilding carry the market

Korean coverage closed the April-June 2026 quarter. We went through 17 issuers with a comparable base. Median revenue growth was 19% and net profit growth 17%. Two sectors carried the market, and both grew by multiples rather than percentages: memory semiconductors and shipbuilding.

- Samsung Electronics grew profit more than fourteen-fold; net margin rose 35 points to 42%.

- Shipbuilding grew by multiples: Hanwha Ocean up 367% on profit, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries up 290%.

- Telecom lagged: KT Corporation lost 36% of profit while trading at 3.5x EBITDA.

- Autos slipped: Hyundai Motor lost 16% of profit on a 5.1% net margin.

- SK hynix is excluded: in our data net profit came in above revenue, which is impossible.

A note on the Korean data

For every Korean issuer, the history and the latest reported period come from different data feeds. That does not distort the growth rates in itself, and the magnitudes are internally consistent, but we keep Korea out of cross-market medians.
